ED / Sexual Health

Erectile Dysfunction (ED) is a common condition in which men are unable to maintain a satisfactory erection for intercourse. Research estimates that as many as one in two American men over the age of 40 struggle with ED.

Men with ED suffer with anxiety, feelings of inadequacy, embarrassment, and diminished quality of life. The good news is that there are several safe and effective ways to overcome ED and restore robust sexual function.

Treatments for Erectile Dysfunction

Along with a systems-based approach to optimizing men’s health, The Gapin Institute also offers several different approaches to specifically help men overcome ED and achieve maximal sexual function.

Oral medications

Oral medications are often the initial treatment of choice for men with erectile dysfunction. The most common medications are Sildenafil (Viagra) and tadalafil (Cialis). These medications work by increasing blood flow to the penis and thus improving sensitivity to sexual stimulation. These are often fairly effective for men with mild to moderate ED, but can cause some mild side effects including headaches, stuffy nose and muscle aches. There are certain precautions against taking these medications along with certain other drugs.

GAINSWave

Whereas the previous options temporarily treat erectile dysfunction, GAINSWave is a clinically proven, non-invasive therapy that improves sexual performance by actually correcting the underlying problem. GAINSWave is based on a series of over 30 clinical studies showing a greater than 75% success rate in treating Erectile Dysfunction (ED).
The pulsatile waves used during GAINSWave treatment can help improve blood flow to the penis by promoting increased blood flow through the formation of new blood vessels in the penis.

The Priapus P-Shot

A single-injection treatment for erectile dysfunction, the P-Shot® uses the patient’s own enriched blood platelets to activate growth factors that rejuvenate the penis, allow greater blood flow, enhance sensation, and improve overall sexual performance. The treatment is non-allergenic and free of harmful side effects. Like GAINSWave, the Priapus shot is intended to actually cure the underlying problem by promoting increased blood flow through the formation of new blood vessels in the penis.

Peptides

Peptides are amazing signalling molecules that can effectively treat ED. Peptides are not pharmaceuticals, but rather short chains of amino acids that provide very precise functions. Melanotan 2 and PT-141 are peptides that can be given by injection or nasal spray to immediately enhance sexual performance. Several other peptides can effectively improve hormone function which indirectly improves sexual function.

Stem Cell Injections

Stem cell therapy is another cutting-edge approach to ED. Stem cells can differentiate into any cells of the body. They are particularly able to create new blood vessels and thus promote increased blood flow, the basis of healthy erectile function.

Intracavernosal “Trimix” Injections

With Trimix injections, men inject a small volume of powerful medications directly into the side of the penis to stimulate an erection. These medications are typically administered just prior to intercourse and work within minutes to create a powerful erection. These medications do not tend to cause side effects other than the discomfort with injections and mild penile bruising.

Vacuum Therapy

Vacuum therapy is a non-invasive approach to improving erectile function. The treatment involves a cylinder-shaped suction device placed around the penis to draw blood into the penis. Vacuum therapy is quite effective, especially when used in conjunction with other treatment options.
